Andrew J. Weber DMD, MS
|Dr. Andrew Weber received a pre-dental scholarship from Eastern Illinois University and was admitted into dental school after his junior year of college. He graduated with honors from Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine in 1998. He practiced general dentistry for a year before entering a residency at St. Louis University where he received his Master's degree and specialty certificate in Periodontics in 2002.
After graduating, Dr. Weber became an Associate Clinical Professor in Periodontics at Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine and for periodontal residents at St. Louis University. He started Periodontics of O'Fallon in Missouri in 2002 with a focus on Periodontal Medicine, Oral Plastic Surgery, Dental Implant Therapy, Conscious Sedation, Laser Therapy, and Digital Imaging. He was honored to be chosen by his peers as a top Dentist each year since 2007. He is a member of numerous professional organizations and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2005. Dr. Weber started the Greater St. Charles Dental Study Club in 2009, served on the Fluoridation committee for the Missouri Dental Association, and was as an examiner for parenteral moderate sedation for the Missouri Dental Board. He has given numerous lectures related to his speciality throughout the greater St. Louis, the Midwest, and San Antonio. He has given back to the local Leukemia Lymphoma Society and the Ferrari Kid. He leads the Spear Study Club in San Antonio where they meet monthly to review complicated cases among highly trained dentists and specialists.
Dr. Weber is committed to his community and has been active in Give Kids a Smile since 2000, and enjoys helping patients through Donated Dental Services. He has assisted with local school districts, various churches and charities. He was chosen to be the doctor for the most recent Ultimate Smile Makeover contest (link). He is currently working to take his team on a dental mission trip to the Dominican Republic and with Family Endeavors to provide dental care to underserved veterans and their families.
Dr. Andrew Weber grew up in the small, farming community of Teutopolis, Illinois. In 1995, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Lea, and they have 2 children, Presley and Peyton, and an adopted old Yorki named Portia. He and his wife are music fans and see a variety of performances and concerts when possible. He enjoys playing guitar, making music, and being active.
|Dr. Kent Hamilton has been practicing periodontics in San Antonio since 1984. A graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, he received his certificate in periodontics from the UTHSC at San Antonio.
Dr. Hamilton was an Air force Pilot who served a one-year residency in the U.S. Air Force, where he practiced general dentistry for the next six years. He has taught at the Texas A&M Department of Biochemistry and at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and San Antonio.
He is a father of two children. He is active in numerous professional associations and has published papers on a variety of topics, including grafting techniques and soft and hard tissue regeneration. He has been featured in publications such as Inside Magazine, San Antonio Magazine, Texas Monthly, and Texas Super Dentists.
He is a well-known speaker who is published and lectures both nationally and internationally. He has received numerous awards and was recently named “Who’s Who” in the Global Directory, “America’s Top Dentist” for Periodontics and Implants in The Guide to Americas Top Dentist consumer Research Council of America. The Consumer Business Review also recognizes Dr. Hamilton as the Periodontist of the Year both in 2000 and 2002.
|Dr. Walter D. Thames is the newest member of the Excellent Dental Specialist family. He was born and raised in Abilene, a medium sized city in west Texas. In 1999, he married his lovely wife, Scha, at the ripe age of 20! They have built their lives together with three incredible children, daughter Avery, oldest son Josiah, and youngest son Gideon. He loves being able to share his life with such wonderful and supportive people.
Dr. Thames grew up under challenging circumstances that pushed his work ethic and drive to the extreme. In 1997, he graduated from Abilene High School with multiple honors. In 2001, he subsequently graduated from Angelo State University Magna Cum Laude. He started dental school in 2006. It was also at this time He decided to join the United States Navy to serve our great country. He graduated with honors from The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston (which has subsequently changed names to The University of Texas School of Dentistry) in 2010. In a rare occurrence, during his third year, he was accepted directly into the highly rated and extremely demanding prosthodontics residency program at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD. During his residency, he completed research and a thesis to obtain his Master's of Science degree in Oral Biology. He graduated in 2013 with a Certificate in Prosthodontics. He has completed half of the requirements for board certification and expects to complete board certification in November 2017.
After graduating, Dr. Thames served as Department Head of Prosthodontics, as well as Specialty Command Consultant and Command Lab Consultant while serving the great sailors, marines, and their families stationed on Okinawa, Japan for three years until being assigned to Sewell’s Point Dental Clinic at Naval Station Norfolk in 2016. He realized it was time to move on from the Navy and requested an honorable discharge which was accepted and will separate this summer as a Lieutenant Commander.
Dr. Thames loves his profession and cannot wait to see the incredible opportunities that will be available in the civilian sector. "It doesn't matter if serving on active duty or not, whenever you deliver dental restorations that change a person's life, it touches you. It makes all of the hard work worth it. All patients require respect and special attention but unfortunately not all patients receive them." Dr. Thames continues, "I will strive to deliver the absolute best possible care because everyone deserves that."
Lastly, Dr. Thames is an amateur artist who might display some of his special creations around the clinics. He also enjoys cheering his daughter in swimming competitions, his oldest son in basketball and baseball games, and his youngest son in swimming and soccer. He, and his whole family, are also avid Spurs and Dallas Cowboys fans!
